Treasury Bills

Treasury bills are discounted securities issued and guaranteed by the Government of Belize with a maturity period of less than one year, but usually for three months at varying interest rate and in multiples of $200.

Bidding on Treasury bills

When Treasury bills are offered for auction, a notice will be posted here and in the Gazette. To enter a bid:

1. Complete the Treasury bill application form. To help you determine
    the amount of your bid you can use the recent and historic results of
    Treasury bill auctions.
2. Send the application form in a sealed envelope to:
            Central Bank
            Gabourel Lane
            Belize City, Belize
3. Forms must be received by 12:00 noon on the date specified in the Gazette and marked ‘Treasury Bill  Tender’.
4. The Central Bank of Belize will inform all potential investors of approval status of the tender.

Purchasing Treasury bills on the secondary market

To purchase or sell Treasury bills on the secondary market, a potential investor will need to:

1. Contact the Finance Department of the Central Bank of Belize for availability of Treasury bills.
2. If Treasury bills are available, arrange for purchase by completing the abovementioned application  form.
3. Submit Treasury bill application and payment before 2:00 pm on weekdays.
