In Belize, other types of financial institutions can offer non-banking financial services such as merchant or investment banking, collective investment schemes and credit card businesses. These institutions can also include finance houses or finance companies, leasing corporations and mortgage institutions.

Once a license is approved, these financial institutions are regulated in Belize under the Domestic Banks and Financial Institutions Act.
